AREVA T&D Consolidates its Leadership in 765 kV Substations in India


Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, Tuesday, October 13, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- AREVA's Transmission and Distribution (T&D) division has recently won an order worth approximately 1500 MINR million from the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL), India's main transmission utility, for a 765 kV extra high voltage substation. AREVA will deliver this project in Jaiti Kalan, located in Delhi.

Commenting on the order, Mr. Michel Augonnet, Executive Vice President of AREVA T&D's Systems Business Unit said, "Winning this fifth 765kV substatioin order from Power Grid is a recognition of AREVA's proven expertise and leading position in the 765 kV domain in India. AREVA T&D deployed India's first 765 kV substation for the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Sipat, which has been in operation since January 2007. Thanks to these recent major orders, AREVA T&D India has now won seven of fifteen 765 kV substation projects so far awarded in this country.
