Alfa Laval Wins Order for Equipment to Be Used in the Production of 'Tata Salt'


Pune, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, October 06, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Alfa Laval - a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling - has received an order from Tata Chemicals for heat exchangers to be used in evaporation systems for production of salt in India. The order value is about INR 379.8 million and delivery is scheduled for 2011. The heat exchangers and other parts of the Evaporator Systems are being supplied by Alfa Laval will be used in TCL's existing manufacturing facility at the Mithapur complex for the mass production of table salt under the brand 'Tata Salt'. TCL is enhancing and modernizing their existing production capacity substantially with a plan for doubling the capacity in near future.

The concept of plant design and implementation is to concentrate sea water brine for the production of salt. The simultaneously generated fresh water will be used as process water in the soda ash and caustic plant. Partial concentrated brine is also used in caustic soda manufacturing.
