Cisco WebEx Offers Remote Support through Web Collaboration

Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Wednesday, June 30, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- In today's global economy, the demand for a fast and easy to use web collaboration solution has never been greater. Companies have evolved into a phase where they no longer just use web collaboration to conduct online meetings. Nowadays, the remote support team is able to provide quick support and increase resolved issues for customers the first time they call.

Kiran Datar, Managing Director. Cisco WebEx (India) says, "Using web collaboration technology, they are able to fix remote problems in real time. They are able to skip the frustrating back-and-forth of talking to customers and saves the time and expense of onsite support calls."

If supporting customers is just one part of the job, sales executives can conduct simple support sessions with web collaboration. Customer service representatives can conduct multiple and intense support sessions in real time, enhancing their productivity and thereby greatly reducing the overall costs.

Remote support can significantly improve the tech support process, reduce delivery costs and increase effectiveness of an organisation.

How it works? - Resolve remote support issues with web collaboration

Remote support technicians are able to reduce company downtime and provide real-time remote support to anyone, internal or external. They are able to perform fast and accurate fixes online using web collaboration. They can decrease the time and expense of onsite visits and increase productivity. Web collaboration enables them to push regular updates and security patches proactively.

Technicians can deliver instant, personalized remote support to users-inside or outside the company-wherever they're located. Using remote support through web collaboration will increase first call resolution, minimize costly onsite service visits and reduce support costs overall. Users can view and control desktops or applications to diagnose and solve problems in real time. They are able to resolve and close support cases faster and provide clients with a quality support experience.

Organisations use web collaboration technology for internal IT support to maximize company uptime by supporting users anywhere, or for customer support to meet service level agreements and increase customer satisfaction.

Taking Remote Support to the Next Level

Remote support offers great potential to enhance your ability to diagnose and resolve service issues, yet not all remote support offerings are appropriate for all audiences and service delivery models. Answering the following questions will help identify opportunities to define new or realign existing remote support offerings:

. Who is using your remote support offerings? Who should be using them?
. What are the primary inhibitors that keep your customers from using remote support?
. What new or expanded remote support offerings should you offer?
. Do you have an adequate response to customer concerns about security and privacy?
. Which remote support technology is able to meet your needs?
. In what circumstances is remote support able to save time and effort to respond to service requests?
. What circumstances are ill-suited to the use of remote support?
. What is the net impact of remote support on service delivery efficiency?
. To what extent is remote support able to increase the effectiveness of providing a quality answer to a customer issue?
. How much does it costs to provide remote support services?
. What is the net impact of remote support in terms of customer satisfaction, loyalty, and service delivery costs?
. Do you have the right remote support offerings to meet the needs of your business and your customers?

Whether you are getting started with new remote support offerings or looking to take existing remote support capabilities to the next level, it is important to periodically evaluate your remote support strategy, goals and objectives.

Remote support- Competitive edge

Customers today require companies to solve their queries and issues as quickly as possible resulting in minimum downtime for the customer. For any business downtime usually translates to loss in revenues and reduced productivity. Hence most businesses place higher emphasis on improved field support and after sales support. Remote support can act as a catalyst for providing competitive edge for both the vendor and the customer. The customer can benefit due to lesser downtime and improved operational efficiency. The customer would then feel the need to pass the benefits on to the vendor through an extension of contract or improvement in financial terms in order to enjoy the benefits of improved service. In a B2B situation long lasting relationship with the customer is extremely important for the vendor. This not only reduces lead times for new product development and enhancements on existing products but also helps the company enjoy better margins due to virtues of customer retention. Remote support can help businesses across geographical distances maintain a successful long term mutually beneficial relationship.

9.9 Media launches NEXT100 - the Biggest Search for India's Future CIOs

New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, June 30, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- 9.9 Mediaworx (9.9 Media) has announced the launch of NEXT100 - India's biggest and most comprehensive effort to identify 100 future CIOs (Chief Information Officers). These future CIOs, collectively called the NEXT100, will be recognized and honoured at a special awards ceremony in November this year.

NEXT100 is an initiative of IT Next magazine, which is published by 9.9 Media. IT Next is India's only magazine that caters to the information needs of IT managers across the country and all industry segments.

The NEXT100 contest is open to all IT managers across India who think they have the potential to become CIOs. To make the process simple and transparent, IT Next has set up a website, www.itnext.in/next100, where IT managers can find complete details about NEXT100. IT managers can nominate themselves for the awards. Applicants for the NEXT100 award can also send in their completed forms through mail or courier by downloading and filling in a PDF version of the form that is available on the site.

Vikas Gupta, publisher of IT Next magazine and a Director at 9.9 Media, says, "This is the first time in India that a talent contest for IT managers is taking place on such a huge scale, and with such detailed selection criteria. In addition to qualifications and experience, NEXT100 will judge candidates on their business and decision-making skills, as well as leadership potential. This is a comprehensive and well-rounded effort, rather than a routine talent hunt."

NEXT100 has already created a significant impact in the market. Within 24 hours of the launch of the site, more than 250 IT managers have registered themselves. And by the time deadline for submission of forms July 31, 2010, approaches, more than a thousand IT managers are expected to apply.

Sharing more details about NEXT100, R Giridhar, Group Editor, 9.9 Media, says, "NEXT100 is creating a wave of excitement and anticipation not just among IT managers but also their bosses-the CIOs. As many as 40 CIOs have expressed a desire to be a part of the advisory panel. Many more CIOs are expected to support this unique project." The role of the advisory panel is to provide feedback on the NEXT100 process, and help ensure that the process is fair and objective. To select the NEXT100, a jury of eminent CIOs will be constituted after the application process ends.

BWI: Radio-Tech Launches ‘Ecosense’ Temperature and Humidity Sensor for Construction and Energy-Saving Applications

Radio-Tech Launches 'Ecosense' Temperature and Humidity Sensor for Construction and Energy-Saving Applications
New Device is Ideal for Internal and External Applications

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Wednesday, June 30, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Wireless telemetry specialist Radio-Tech has developed Ecosense, a battery-powered temperature and humidity sensor for internal and external applications.

Ecosense is available in three versions: internal, external (reading both temperature and humidity), and surface (reading only temperature conducted through a wall). The sensor "chirps" every five minutes, transmitting its data to Radio-Tech's RT:Wi5 data hub (or a modbus receiver); the information collected is then sent directly to the relevant server.

Aimed at the construction industry and energy consortiums, Ecosense was originally designed for the Energy Saving Trust in the United Kingdom. The product supplied to that body correlates measurements of internal and external temperature and humidity, along with wall surface temperature, to evaluate the insulation of new housing.

Since Ecosense's transmitter is radio-based and needs no connection to mains electric power, the sensor can be installed very easily. The unit is powered by a lithium battery that lasts up to three years.

Wipro to Fund ACM Scholarships for Women Students Attending Computing Research Conferences
Initiative Aims to Promote Diversity in Computing and Encourage Women to Pursue Advanced Education and Careers in Computing

New York, United States, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) today announced an agreement wherein Wipro will fund scholarships that enable women students majoring in computer science and related programs to attend research conferences around the world.

The scholarship support is an initiative under Wipro's focus to encourage diversity. The funds by Wipro Technologies will expand a program currently administered by the ACM Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W) http://women.acm.org/ to help women in the computing field attend conferences over the next five years beginning in 2011. The scholarship support fosters opportunities for women to contribute towards innovation and advanced learning. It also enables ACM-W to offer larger scholarships to qualified recipients.

"We believe that an organization's ability to embrace and imbibe diversity within its DNA deeply influences its competitiveness and success. Diversity holds many benefits, key among them being building a global, dynamic & healthy work environment and encouraging individual talents to flourish in the society. We are pleased to sponsor this ACM-W Scholarship Program, and in general to bring more women into science and technology, and to create better real-world solutions to complex issues that make a difference in improving living standards around the globe," said I.Vijayakumar, Chief Technology Officer, Wipro Technologies.

Professor Dame Wendy Hall, ACM's President, said "Wipro's generous offer to raise the funding for this critical program means ACM will be able to expand its efforts to attract the best minds to the computing field across the demographic spectrum - especially among underrepresented groups." She added that exposure to the computing research world can be an important factor in encouraging students to continue their studies. "Their advanced education will also qualify more women for a range of attractive industry and academic positions in this dynamic field that has contributed so much to inspire advances that benefit society."

The financial support from Wipro allows ACM-W to offer larger scholarships than in previous years, and to enable participation by women in both international and local events. Scholarship applications are evaluated at six points throughout the year in order to distribute awards across a range of conferences. Approximately 20 recipients will be identified as ACM-W/Wipro Scholars each year, with individual funds ranging from $600 to $1200, depending on distance to conference venues. The ACM-W/Wipro Scholars will also submit a report of their conference experience, which will be posted on the ACM-W webpage as part of the "In Her Own Words" section to capture the impact of this opportunity on their career choice.

Airtel CLT20 Schedule Announced
Tournament to Feature 10 Teams Playing 23 Matches Across 4 Venues; Sachin Tendulkar's Mumbai Indians to take on Alviro Petersen's Highveld Lions in Opening Match

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Wanderers Stadium, one of world cricket's most famous venues, will host the Airtel Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) Final after the format and match schedule for the second edition of the tournament was announced today.

The Airtel CLT20, the grand finale of Twenty20 cricket between the world's champion teams, will start on Friday 10 September with a Group B clash between Sachin Tendulkar's Mumbai Indians and Alviro Petersen's Highveld Lions at Wanderers in Johannesburg.

All matches throughout the tournament will be broadcast in prime time in India starting at 5pm or 9pm IST. Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will fight it out in Group B, while Chennai Super Kings have been drawn in Group A alongside the Twenty20 champions from Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

Wanderers, which has hosted some of cricket biggest matches including the 2003 ICC World Cup Final, 2007 ICC World Twenty20 Final and the 2009 IPL Final, will add another chapter to its storied history in September as teams from around the world battle to be crowned the best of the best.

Durban and Centurion have been awarded the Semi Finals on 24 and 25 September respectively, with the Final to be played at Wanderers on Sunday 26 September.

The 10 competing teams have been divided into two groups of five for a round robin phase before the top two teams from each group progress to the semi finals. Matches throughout the tournament have been evenly distributed across the four venues with each hosting at least five fixtures, including the finals.

Mumbai and the Highveld Lions have been drawn in Group B alongside South Australia's Redbacks, Royal Challengers Bangalore and West Indies' representative which will be determined in late-July.

Group A includes MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (2010 IPL Champions), Australia's Twenty20 Big Bash Champions Victoria, along with the Warriors (South Africa's Pro Series Champions), Wayamba (Sri Lanka) and Central Stags (New Zealand).

Play in Group A starts on Saturday 11 September in Port Elizabeth with virtual international-strength clashes between the Warriors and Wayamba in the early match, and Chennai Super Kings and Central Stags in the late fixture in Durban.

Centurion gets its first taste of Airtel CLT20 action the following day with a blockbuster Group B double-header between the Highveld Lions and South Australia, and Royal Challengers Bangalore and the qualified team from the West Indies.

Shashank Manohar, Airtel CLT20 Chairman, said:

"With 100 international stars qualified to participate through one - or more - of their Twenty20 teams, fans will be treated to daily battle between the world's best cricketers."

"Fans attending any of the matches throughout the tournament will be entertained by the highest quality Twenty20 cricket featuring South Africa's home grown heroes and world cricket's biggest and brightest stars."

A number of players have qualified to play for two or more teams, including Jacques Kallis (Warriors*, Royal Challengers Bangalore), Mark Boucher (Warriors*, Royal Challengers Bangalore), Makhaya Ntini (Warriors*, Chennai Super Kings), Kieron Pollard (South Australian Redbacks, Mumbai Indian), Dwayne Bravo (Victorian Bushrangers, Mumbai Indian) and Cameron White (Victorian Bushrangers*, Royal Challengers Bangalore).

New Zealand's Ross Taylor has become the first player in CLT20's short history to qualify for three teams, with his home team, Central Stags, and 'away' teams Victorian Bushrangers and Royal Challengers Bangalore qualifying for the event.

If Trinidad & Tobago emerge as Champions of the West Indies Cricket Board's domestic Twenty20 competition, Pollard and Bravo will also join Taylor with three options for the tournament.

As was the case in 2009, if a player is selected to play for an 'away' team rather than his 'home' team (the team from the country he is eligible to represent in international cricket), the 'away' team must pay US$200,000 compensation to the 'home' team.

'Away' teams are not eligible for compensation if a player chooses to play for his 'home' team.

Note: * designates 'home' team
