Chennai Company Sets Up Desalination Plants worth Rs. 50 crore for Oman and Egypt Governments


Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Wednesday, October 07, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- The Chennai-based Shivsu Canadian Clear International Limited, a leading water technology solutions provider and manufacturer of mineral water packaging equipments, has become the first Indian company to successfully install Rs 50 crore worth desalination water plants for Oman and Egypt governments. Shivsu's work includes design, manufacture, supply, construction and commissioning of the plant on a turnkey basis.

Shivsu's desalination plant at Egypt converts sea water into drinking water - the installed capacity of this Rs 30 crore plant is 20 million litre per day. It will benefit 10 lakh people a day. The plant was installed in six months.

The company's plant for the Oman Army is a 3 pass desalination system that converts desert water into drinking water - this Rs 20-crore. Oman plant can supply three million litres of water per day. The project was executed in the middle of the desert within three months. These two projects were completed on time and on budget.

Shivsu has used membrane-technology in the reverse osmosis desalination plants. These plants are 100% indigenous and were designed, engineered, manufactured and assembled at Chennai. The unique feature of the plant is its compactness and containerization.

Shivsu's core design and engineering team for these two projects comprised 75 personnel - the project engaged about 300 personnel for installation and commissioning. Currently about 50 personnel are managing the Operations & Maintenance in these two plants. Shivsu will maintain these plants for three years.
