Nationwide Survey on Current Law & Justice Situation in the Country by RNB Research
What a "Common man" thinks about the LAW & JUSTICE situation in the country
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Thursday, January 28, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- The Survey was conducted all across the country in a manner covering Gender, Caste, Age, Socio economic factors both at the Rural Bharat as well as the Urban India, In all the samples was for 17629 respondents during 5th Jan to 22nd Jan 2010 & some very interesting issues came in front.
The Ruchika-Rathore case was taken as a bench mark to start the research. The following facts came on the front. Surprisingly a large number of Indian Population were unaware of any such case owing to the low literacy level in the rural India & indicating a huge work required to improve the socio economic state of the country.
Most of the respondents felt that the Congress should try to capitalize & use the edge that they got by winning the last Lok Sabha elections owing to the scattered & unorganized opposition as a tool to garner this situation & mould it in such a way to yield maximum benefit for the country & in turn congress.
When asked if they knew about the Ruchika-Rathore case :33% of the Male respondents & surprisingly 51% of the female respondents had no idea of this leaving a wide gap on the issues that are happening on a national level, clearly indicating that the status of female population in India to be tapped & made educated.
Are you aware of Ruchika Rathore case ?
Male : Yes 63%; No 33%; DNT 4%
Female : Yes 47%; No 51%; DNT 2%
A large Indian population solidly believe that the powerful person "Do" make a impact on the judiciary system, moreover a large number of respondents preferred to be silent owing to the fear factor of the system & being used as a tool of this survey.
Do you think Powerful persons in India effect the Judicial System/LAW?
Male: Yes 72%; No 12%; DNT 16%
Female : Yes 47%; No 29%; DNT 24%
Do you think that the Judicial System in India is Correct?
Male: Yes 36%; No 52%; DNT 12%
Female : Yes 24%; No 65%; DNT 12%
A large number of respondents (65% Female, 52% Male) felt that the Judicial system is not correct in India, Female respondents showed a more aggressive & openly criticized then their male counterparts. When further this question was more bifurcated in terms of the standards of Judicial systems , we found as follows:
How do you Rate the Present Judicial System of India :
Male: Outdated 25%; Slow 40%; Very Slow 32%; DNT 3%
Female: Outdated 12%; Slow 35%; Very Slow 51%; DNT 2%
Meaning a stunning 97% of male respondents & 98% of female respondents found the current Law System Outdated/Slow/very Slow.
Do you have FAITH in the Indian Judiciary?
Male: Yes 47%; No 31%; DNT 22%
Female : Yes 41%; No 41%; DNT 18%
Unfortunately the trust & faith in the Judicial system has declined like never before to which a large number of respondents gave their nod. This is a alarming situation & need corrections in time, otherwise unfortunate & unexpected incidence of taking law in the hand may rise sharply because a large & a very high Indian population feels that amendments to the present Judicial system is a MUST.
When asked if they thought that the Central government should amend the constitution for faster delivery of Justice , a high number of respondents agreed on this & showed a clear message
Should the Constitution be amended for Faster Delivery of Justice:
Male: Very Much 47%; Yes 45%; No 3%; DNT 5%
Female : Very Much 24%; Yes 71%; No 6%; DNT 0%
A whopping 92% of males respondent & even higher 94% of female respondents did felt the NEED for the CHANGE of the Faster Delivery of JUSTICE.
Further a very large number of respondents (81% Males ; 76% Females) felt that the speedy delivery of Justice will result into effective & quality Justice, which is contrary to normal believe.
Will Speedy delivery of Justice result into Quality Justice:
Male: Yes 81%; No 9%; DNT 9%
Female : Yes 76%; No 6%; DNT 18%
The following simple remedies were suggested by the respondents for effective Judiciary:
1) Increase number of Courts
2) Increase number of Judges in the existing courts
3) Change constitution for faster Justice
4) Time bound delivery of the cases
5) Quick punishments to the Guilty
6) Reduction in number of Holidays for the Judiciary
7) Lesser Impact of Politicians on the Judiciary
8) Strong law on corruption
9) Increasing working Hours of the Courts
10) Two Shifts of Courts to avoid new Infrastructure
Two very strong points came during the survey:
1. A large number of respondents wanted to make the punishment & Penalties more strict :
Male: Yes 72%; No 14%; DNT 14%
Female : Yes 68%; No 15%; DNT 17%
2. An Equally large number of respondents felt that restricting the habit of lawyers on taking "DATES" as per their convenience & to delay the cases be controlled & this tool alone may speed up the cases to half the time as what is being taken today:
Male: Yes 87%; No 4%; DNT 9%
Female : Yes 71%; No 6%; DNT 23%
An overall view of the situation indicates that the Indian population by & large wanted strictly & strongly the amendments & faster disposal of the Cases, this will only be known to us in the times to come, that how the curent builders of the Modern India react to this demand from a "common man"
We end with the following popular quotes:
Justice Delayed is Justice Denyed
&
Delay of Justice is Injustice - W.S.landor
Methodology
The Survey Poll was conducted pan India from 5th Jan to 22nd Jan 2010, among 17629 adults. Figures for age,sex,race/ethnicity,region were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.
Primary data was collected through AMERICAN Stratified methods of sampling so that the minimum error of sample exists and that too may be rectified.
After collection of representative data, these data's were condensed in tabulation form to study their salient features. Where necessary these data's are also put in to graphs & frequency distribution table. With the help of interpolation, the missing data were estimated for the primary representative data.
The model for TIME SERIES analysis is also used with original data. The different types of fluctuations were eliminated. Corrections of the estimations were checked through time reversal test.

LSI and Seagate Collaborate to Enter PCI express-based Enterprise solid-state Storage Market Segment
New board-level Solutions from LSI will Integrate LSI and Seagate Technology to Achieve Breakthrough Performance, Reliability and Ease of Use
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, January 28, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced a collaboration with Seagate Technology (NASDAQ: STX) to deliver robust, PCI Express® (PCIe®)-based solid-state storage (SSS) solutions for data center and cloud computing environments. Through this joint effort, LSI is expected to deliver board-level products that integrate LSIT SAS and PCIe technology with Seagate solid-state drive (SSD) technology. The products are designed to provide enterprise OEMs and channel partners with new levels of performance, reliability and ease of use while addressing architectural challenges that have limited SSS adoption. Product samples are expected to be available to OEM customers in the second quarter of this year.
"LSI is uniquely positioned to execute a broad solid-state storage strategy," said Jeff Richardson, executive vice president and general manager, Semiconductor Solutions Group, LSI. "We're already deeply engaged in delivering solid-state storage technologies, from custom silicon to storage systems. Entering the emerging PCIe-based SSS market segment is a natural extension of our core competencies. By building upon the industry's most widely deployed SAS software stack, OEMs and system builders will gain a proven, lower-risk path to market and continuity across technology generations."
"IT professionals want server and storage solutions that can deliver the performance and efficiency benefits of solid-state technology without impacting system resources or further complicating already complex enterprise storage environments," said David Mosley, executive vice president, Sales, Marketing, and Product Line Management, Seagate. "These new LSI products will accelerate enterprise application processing and help reduce I/O latency by using standards-based interfaces and protocols to minimize the impact to existing end user enterprise infrastructures. The collaboration extends Seagate's enterprise solid-state strategy, which is focused on delivering the best-fit solutions for IT using both traditional hard disk drives and solid-state storage."
Market research firm IDC forecasts that SSD revenue in the enterprise segment will reach $2.0B by 2013.[1] PCIe-based solutions will constitute a significant portion of this growing market segment due to their ability to further boost performance, reliability and ease of use within an existing IT infrastructure.
"Solid-state drives remain in the spotlight as a technology and an area of growth in the storage market," said Jeff Janukowicz, research manager, Hard Disk Drive Components and Solid-State Drives at IDC. "Future market requirements related to price per gigabyte, performance, power consumption and reliability align well with the benefits of solid-state storage, and PCIe-based SSS solutions are poised to meet these requirements in data center environments where higher performance is at a premium."
LSI and Seagate bring decades of enterprise-level experience in the design, manufacture and support of storage products for critical applications. Having two experienced leaders with proven engineering capabilities and the global scale to commit resources toward the development of PCIe-based SSS solutions will help pave the way to market maturity and broad enterprise adoption.

BWI: TÜV SÜD Supports Companies to Tackle Safety Issues Related to Restricted Substances
Source: TÜV SÜD South Asia Pvt. Ltd.

TÜV SÜD Supports Companies to Tackle Safety Issues Related to Restricted Substances
Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Thursday, January 28, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- The Indian Leather industry has become increasingly cautious about the presence of the Restricted Substances in leather and footwear products. However, there have been cases of negligence amongst exporters with respect to this crucial aspect. While a section of exporters get a small percentage of batches of the total lot to be exported tested for eco parameters, the negligence bears heavily on the untested products. Rejections and circulation of unsafe leather and footwear in the markets are offshoots of such negligence resulting in tarnished business and brand equity of the exporter. TÜV SÜD has played a key role in helping companies in the leather industry understand the value of comprehensive eco testing for Restricted Substances. TÜV SÜD South Asia will be explaining best safety practices and the existing requirements for comprehensive testing and certification solutions in the leather and footwear industry, at the India International Leather Fair from January 31 to February 3, 2010.
"The risks involved in leather and footwear can be quite damaging for the health of a customer and the business of a company. The presence of restricted substances cannot be neglected in any batch of export, immaterial of the size of the aggregate batches for export. We have seen nearly 25-30% of lots being rejected annually due to non-compliance to testing standards. In some cases an entire order worth over USD 1 million has been rejected by a buyer, leaving the exporter to bear all the costs - all this because not all lots in the consignment were tested for all quality and eco parameters," says Mr. Vinodh Kumar, Manager - Leather testing, TÜV SÜD South Asia. "This may be an indication that while exporters understand the importance of quality; the magnitude of having a comprehensive test is yet to be understood," adds Mr. Sathishkumar, National Sales Manager - Softlines Testing, TÜV SÜD South Asia.
The Indian leather industry is targeting over USD 5 billion exports by end of 2010¹. In course of meeting targets, leather and footwear exporters encounter cost escalation in the form of testing and certification requirements, resulting in cases of negligence. However, the scenario is improving with training that is being imparted on quality and safety aspects in leather and footwear. TÜV SÜD South Asia has been helping exporters in various leather clusters in India realize the existing norms and compliance standards through regular trainings. TÜV SÜD experts will also be providing information on leather and footwear testing, inspection and the certification process as well as a broad range of services at the IILF - India International Leather Fair, Chennai from January 31st to February 3rd, 2010 (Chennai Trade Centre, Booth B36, Hall 1-B).
More information on quality, certification and inspection along with testing labs can be found on www.tuv-sud.in/softlines. Queries may be directed to softlines@tuv-sud.in or +91 80 39289 797/ 855.

HZL is currently expanding production at the Rampura Agucha Mine as demand for zinc continues to rise around the globe. The AC trucks provide increased productivity and availability levels while lowering life cycle costs.
"Komatsu is proud to commission the very first AC mining trucks in India with our customer HZL," said Yamada Koji, Managing Director, Komatsu India Private Limited. "These trucks will increase productivity because of higher uphill and downhill speeds while lowering maintenance costs for HZL through fewer wearing components. HZL will also have access to an extensive in-country service network."
"GE and Komatsu have had a 40-year relationship partnering on electric drive mining trucks, and we're pleased to be able to work with them to bring the latest drive system technology to India," said Lori Kieklak, Business Leader of Mining, GE Transportation. "Drive systems like the GE240ACT will allow HZL to meet their mine plan with fewer assets deployed compared to a mechanical system."
GE Transportation delivers AC and DC electric drive systems for 120-ton to 360-ton mining trucks manufactured and operated from Brazil to Belarus and from China to Australia. Currently, more than 4,000 GE electric drive systems for off highway vehicles are in use in more than 35 countries worldwide.

Ocean Optics' NIRQuest Spectrometer Packs NIR Sensing Power in Small Footprint
Versatile InGaAs-array Spectrometer for a Host of Applications from 900-2500 nm
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Thursday, January 28, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- A high-performance optical bench, low-noise electronics and various wavelength range options make the NIRQuest Spectrometer from Ocean Optics (www.OceanOptics.com) versatile enough for NIR (near infrared) applications ranging from moisture detection and chemical analysis to high-resolution laser and optical fibre characterisation. This robust, plug-and-play spectrometer is available in versions for 900-1700 nm, 900-2050 nm and 900-2500 nm coverage.

NIRQuest uses a high-performance Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs)-array detector in a compact optical bench with thermoelectric cooler and low-noise electronics. A high gain mode option improves system sensitivity for low light-level and low-concentration measurements. In addition, integration times as rapid as 1 ms are possible.
NIRQuest's modular design and new grating options deliver more customisation for a wider variety of applications: moisture analysis in grains and cereals; chemical analysis of blood and tissue; bacterial detection in food and beverage production; nitrogen content monitoring of plants and soils; and chemical composition of pharmaceuticals. A special grating option and external triggering are useful tools for high-resolution (to 0.25 nm FWHM) laser characterisation. NIRQuest Spectrometers are also available for integration into OEM devices.
The NIRQuest uses SpectraSuite Spectrometer Operating Software -a modular, Java-based spectroscopy platform that operates in Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems. Plus, NIRQuest can be bundled with the Remora Network Adaptor from Ocean Optics to turn the system into a multi-user spectral data server over Ethernet or an existing Wi-Fi connection.
