Pune, Maharashtra, India, Friday, September 24, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Piyush Upadhyay (37) has been appointed as Executive Director Human Resource and Administration of Volkswagen India Private Limited with immediate effect. As Executive Director, he will also be responsible for the human resource and administration functions in the India region for all companies of the Volkswagen Group which are Audi, Skoda Auto India and Volkswagen Brand. Prior to taking up this assignment, Piyush has worked in some prestigious organizations like Hindustan Unilever and Times of India. His last assignment was with Tata BlueScope Steel as its Chief-Human Resource.

Piyush will be spearheading HR, Admin and IR functions at Volkswagen Group to ensure that Volkswagen India continues to hire the best talent in the region.

Prior to Volkswagen, Piyush Upadhyay worked with Tata BlueScope Steel, where he had joined from Tata Steel. At Tata Steel he was extensively involved in studying and re-looking at Human Resource (HR) systems and processes. He took the charge of leading the HR function at Tata Bluescope Steel since its inception. He was actively involved in putting the organizational structure in place and has been instrumental in establishing the human resource systems and processes for the company.

Apart from having worked in some of the best organizations in India, Piyush has also participated extensively in various HR exchange programs, written and spoken at various platforms and forums, and brings with him a multi-faceted experience. Piyush is also one of the winners of National Competition for Young Managers. He brings with him 13 years of work experience and thoroughly enjoys reading.

Dr. Reinhard Penzek (61), Chief Commissioner HR who was the intermediate from 1. November 2008, will support Mr. Upadhyay during his transition time.
