Shell and Ducati Celebrate 10 Years of Technical Partnership


New Delhi, Delhi, India, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- Shell Lubricants, the global market share leader in finished lubricants, is pleased to announce the completion of 10 successful years of technical partnership with the prestigious Italian bike manufacturer, Ducati. The close partnership has made it possible for both the companies to achieve winning titles year after year at the most exalted motorbike race events around the world - The World Superbike Championship and MotoGP.

Overwhelmed with the achievement, Mr. Donald Anderson, Country Head - Lubricants, Shell India Markets Pvt. Since the two companies joined forces in the World Superbike Championship in 1999 and MotoGP in 2003, the flow of results has been tangible and consistent on the race tracks of the world. "Shell has fully embraced the strategic relationship in which both parties put the engineering development at the front, leading to another successful milestone in the history of the partnership", Mr. Anderson further added.

Today, the Shell technical partnership with Ducati has become one of the most successful in the world of motorsport. It has achieved seven World titles and over 150 wins in its first ten years and, with the MotoGP World Title in 2007, became the first non-Japanese manufacturer to win the premier class for more than 30 years.

According to Shell global officials, at the core of this relationship lies a common passion for technology: Ducati develops its legendary road bikes, while Shell works to design high-performing fuel and lubricants for the benefit of riders worldwide.

To help this ongoing development, Shell technicians also introduced a mobile facility called the "Shell Track Lab" to the MotoGP paddock. Shell works literally next door to Ducati's garage, underlining a strategic partnership which embraces engineering development to ensure optimum performance.
