Crafting the Future of HRM for Competitive Advantage

Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, Thursday, December 17, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- ACCMAN Institute of Management, a leading new age B-school, organized a national level HR Conference on 12th December 2009 in which delegates from industry, academia and student community participated in large numbers. The theme of the conference was "Grafting the Future of HRM" and there were two technical sessions-"Talent Management for Competitive Advantage" and "Leveraging Diversity for Competitive Advantage".

Delivering the Keynote Address, Mr Alok Kumar, Chief Service Delivery Officer, Aircel, gave an overview of the latest trends in HR across a wide spectrum of companies. He spoke about the need for Indian corporates to rethink their HR strategy in order to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace. He said that in future, HR managers will perform more strategic roles rather than transactional roles or people related roles. He said that the most successful HR people will be those who "think from the outside in".

Earlier while inaugurating the conference, Prof. Praveen Sharma, Director, ACCMAN Institute of Management, spoke about the changes that HR function will witness in future. HR will be a leaner, refocused cadre of professionals who will put the business first and foremost. HR managers will need different competencies to perform the new roles that they will available. They will have to develop multiple competencies in finance, analytics, marketing and technology to perform the roles of Business Analyst, Internal Consultant, the talent manager, the vendor manager and the self service professional which will come in vogue in future.

This conference was the second in the series of National HR conferences that ACCMAN has organized. With each passing year, the conference is witnessing more and more participation from senior professionals from industry who not only get an opportunity to deliberate and discuss latest developments but also get an opportunity to interact with the budding managers.
