New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- Max Speciality Films (MSF), an SBU of Max India, was conferred with the prestigious 'Certificate of Merit' in the Food Processing Sector for the National Energy Conservations Awards-2009, held last evening by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power.

The award recognizes MSF's significant environment & energy conservation initiatives at its state-of-the-art plant in Rail Majra, Nawanshahr, Punjab. MSF successfully managed 8% savings through reductions in power and fuel consumption in FY09 by specific initiatives and projects.

MSF also recently won the 'International Quality Crown Award' Gold Category from Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D.), UK, one of the first four worldwide organizations which implement Quality Culture in top local, national, continental or global companies. The award had an arena of companies from 173 nations across the world competing.

The Crown demonstrates MSF's excellence in areas such as Leadership and Business Management; Quality and Excellence; Technology, Innovation & Expansion. Some of the previous Indian winners of the Crown include Tata Elexsi, Reliance Energy Limited, Indian Oil (Mauritius) Ltd and VSNL

About National Energy Conservation Awards

National Energy Conservation Awards, constituted for the first time on December 14th, 1991 by Ministry of Power recognizes outstanding leaders in the various industries who have made serious and systematic attempts for efficient utilization and conservation of energy.

The 2009 award was presented by Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Hon'ble Union Minister of Power, Government of India at the National Energy Conservation Day Award Function organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

It had nominations spanning across a wide range of industrial units including Aluminium, automobile, cement, ceramics, chemicals, chlor-alkali, consumer goods, drugs & pharmaceuticals, dairy, edible oil/vanaspati, fertilizers, forging, food processing, foundries, glass, integrated steel, jute, mini steel, mining, paints & allied product industry, paper & pulp, petrochemicals industries, paper and pulp etc.

The award committee consisted of members drawn from the Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority, National Productivity Council, Confederation of Indian Industry, Ministry of Railways and from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. The committee critically evaluates the nominations on various parameters recorded in terms of conservation of energy.
