The award was presented by His Excellency Dr.S.S.Sindu, Governer of Goa for Kumaran's outstanding performance in the Business category in Delhi on August 24, 2009.

Hon'ble Shri K.V.Rajasekharan, Former Union Minister was also present at the award ceremony. The presentation of the Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award was the highlight of the ceremony.
K Kumaran has earned this award as a Young Business and Dynamic Entrepreneur for the inspiring achiever in the field of Exports & Imports at a young age. He holds a degree in Master of Business Administration and started his career at the age of 21.
