DNV Appoints Antony DSouza as its Regional Manager for the Indian Subcontinent and Middle East
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Friday, May 14, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- DNV, one of the world's leading classification and certification companies that specialises in managing risk, has recently restructured its organisation to provide a stronger focus on its customers and the market. Mr DSouza will lead the strategic direction for DNV's efforts in the expanded region Indian Subcontinent and Middle East, ensuring alignment of DNV's vision of making it the preferred partner for its customers in the new region.
The main emphasis of the new DNV organisation is to further decentralize its operation, bringing senior management closer to its customers and offer wide range of value adding services to the maritime and energy sectors using its competent global resources.
"This is one of the most important regions in which DNV operates," says Mr DSouza. "I look forward to the challenge of leading DNV's operations and will seek to strengthen the valuable relationships we have with our existing clients as well as to establish new ones to help our clients meet their current and future challenges."
According to Mr DSouza the changing market conditions have led to an increasing complex risk environment for both DNV and its customers. "The need to manage technical, societal and business risks is more urgent than ever.at the same time it's critical that companies maintain a focus on growth while strengthening current business by optimizing their operations without compromising life, property or environment."
With the strong demand for risk management services in India's energy, maritime and industrial sectors, business is going well for DNV. "Our results show continual growth over the past few years, but we will not rest on our laurels. We will continue our focus on customer relations, quality and the ability to provide innovative services to help our customers and position DNV for the future," adds Mr DSouza.
Mr DSouza will work from DNV's Regional Office in Dubai. He plans to expand DNV's business in India through sustainable growth and a stronger focus on customer relations. "We are committed to serving our customers in India. We already have substantial maritime and energy operations and going forward we will focus on providing more value-adding services to our customers using DNV's competent professionals and network of offices throughout the region."
Although India has not escaped the global downturn completely, Mr DSouza said it is better equipped than many regions to steer the most effective course towards renewed growth mainly due to the ever growing local market and the growing need of energy to support India's ambitions.
"Strong opportunities remain in several areas relevant to DNV business, including the energy and shipping sectors and I am confident the Indian private and public sector and government have the plans and resources in place to sustain growth," said Mr DSouza.
Mr DSouza brings with him extensive industry leadership experience and proven track record to build alliances across market segments. After working as a project manager responsible for newbuildings, he has served DNV in different senior management capacities in North America, his latest position being General Manager responsible for offshore classification in North America and maritime operations in the US & Mexican Gulf. Based in Houston, his division was responsible for providing classification, technical, and advisory services related to maritime and offshore applications.
Mr DSouza is a mechanical engineer by profession and holds a Master's degree in Engineering Management from United States. Before joining DNV in 1998, he held several senior management positions in private sector and multinational companies in India, Singapore and Australia. Mr DSouza is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, United Kingdom.
