Herbalife Celebrates 10 Successful Years in India
Announces Aggressive Expansion Plans for India
Bangalore, Karnataka, India, Thursday, May 27, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Herbalife India, the leading Weight Management, Nutrition and Personal Care Company have announced their plans to expand operations in India. Besides launching and improvising 10 new outer and inner nutrition products, the company plans to expand its business into various Tier II cities across the country. Herbalife India will be investing extensively in IT, training and recruitment and most importantly, to increase their corporate social responsibility outreach toward at-risk communities and children.
Herbalife will be opening new locations in Rajasthan, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala at a record pace by entering these markets with their distributors. Besides this, Herbalife will be improving their current and existing setups in Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai by remodeling the current offices to make it more distributor friendly. Herbalife has already set up their second office in Bangalore, which houses the IT operations of the company.

All inner nutrition Herbalife products are localized and created in accordance with Herbalife's science based philosophy. Their current range of inner nutrition products are selected for the Indian palate like Mango flavor shake. Herbalife will also be investing in better tools and methods to improve the infrastructure of the products.

Herbalife's Q1 results reported a net sales increase of 18.6 percent to $618.6 million indicating the speedy growth of the company. The record revenue reflects y-o-y growth of 6.2 percent. For the quarter, growth from emerging markets represented 50% of total company growth with an increase of 13.9 percent compared to the prior year period. Within this India has played a significant role in driving this growth where India recorded a y-o-y growth of 51.9 percent. Last year, the Indian operations had a triple digit growth.
