Purdue University Confers Habil Khorakiwala an Honorary Doctorate in Pharmacy
First Indian in the Past 125 Years of Purdue University to Receive this Honour
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Saturday, May 15, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Purdue University have conferred the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy on Wockhardt Chairman, Habil Khorakiwala. This is the highest honour the University bestows upon individuals of exceptional attainment and merit. And it is a matter of great pride that Habil Khorakiwala is the first Indian to be awarded this doctorate amongst 41 other doctorates in the 125-year history of Purdue University.
The U.S. News & World Report had ranked the Purdue School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences #9 on the list of Best Pharmacy Graduate Schools in 2008. The School has awarded 141 Distinguished Pharmacy Alumni Awards and has granted only 41 individuals from the field of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with an Honorary Doctorate Degree. Purdue University has the rare distinction of having nearly 20% of all deans of pharmacy schools in the United States as either Purdue alumni or former faculty members.
Habil Khorakiwala is an alumnus of Purdue University and Harvard Business School. He was recently honoured and bestowed by the Purdue University, their prestigious title of 'Distinguished Alumnus' for significant contribution to the Profession of Pharmacy.
