Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Friday, January 15, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- -- Wockhardt Foundation treated 1, 11,184 underprivileged patients with its Right To Vision & Mobile Health Reach Programme in 2009

Wockhardt Foundation in association with Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh organized a unique medical camp for the Central Railway employees and the slums of the Matunga labour camp area.

The camp had three Doctors and one Optometrist present to diagnosis the patients. The patients who were diagnosed with any disease were further referred to the hospitals like Bachole and JJ which are affiliated with Wockhardt Foundation where the patients will be treated free of cost.

Wockhardt Foundation will provide the following checkups to the patients at the camp: General Check-up, Eye Check-up, Blood Pressure Examination & Treatment, Medication for Diabetic patients, Skin problem, Dental problems, Basic care, Deworming.

This medical camp is a part of Wockhardt Foundation's unique initiative Mobile Medical Unit. This Unit comprises of the Right To Vision & Mobile Health Reach Programmes. The Mobile Medical Unit is a perfect community healthcare service provider. It caters to rural areas, slums and smaller Hamlets.

Wockhardt Foundation has already treated 1, 11,184 underprivileged patients in 2009 and their vision is to reach 5, 00,000 patients in 2010 through their Mobile Medical Unit.

The Mobile Medical Unit provides healthcare services which are free Medical Check Ups at designated locations, free distribution of medicines to the patients, referral for DOTS therapy (TB), detection of diabetes and their treatment (Free), pre natal and post natal care, Aids awareness (Done through WHARF), De-worming, eye care / check ups, primary Gynac care, Cancer awareness. (Breast), family planning advice, vaccination for Hepatitis B, Arthritis treatment, dental Check Up (Basic), medication for any Identified Vision disorders, referrals for Cataract surgeries & to work towards the eradication of Preventable Blindness.
