'National and International Doctors' Organised a Training Programme for Young Indian Doctors
Led by World Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Prof. Richard Rothman & Dr. O.N. Nagi of Sir Gangaram Hospital
New Delhi, Delhi, India, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 -- (Business Wire India) -- Dr. Rothman, world renowned orthopaedic surgeon of Rothman Institute Of Orthopaedics along with Dr. George Kirsh, Dr. Hugh English and Dr.O.N Nagi of Sir Gangaram Hospital conducted a two days training program on 'Basic Anthroplasty' in India Habitat Centre on 12th & 13th of September. Nineteen other doctors from across India were a part of the faculty. The training program was attended by over 100 doctors from various parts of the country.
The training program focused on the bio mechanism of Total Hip Replacement & Total Knee Replacement, surgical approaches and the basic surgical steps. This was followed by live surgeries by the experts and panel discussions on the computer navigation system and the future of surgeries.
The faculty focused on operative choices & decision making both for hip & knee anthroplasty. Additional issues such as implant design, bearing surfaces and wear were also addressed with respect to clinical problems and outcome. The participants were exposed to step wise surgical steps for primary arthroplasty of hip and knee and tips of ideal surgical technique were explained.
Though a large number of Arthroplasty meetings are being held in the country every year, however, young doctors feel a bit lost and confused listening to advances and controversial issues. This course was designed in such a manner that it was very easy to understand by the postgraduates, senior residents and the young consultants. The National & International faculty attached with this course shared their knowledge with the young doctors. The key thing about this program was that the course fee was kept at a nominal fee, against similar courses being charged at very high prices. Aim of the program was to transfer the advanced techniques of joint replacement for better clinical outcomes of surgeons practicing in the remotest parts of the country and also ensure the longevity of joints of patients. The program was supported by Stryker.
