Palador to Screen "Shine a Light" at 13th International Film Festival of Kerala

"Shine a Light" by (Martin Scorsese) and "Chevolution" by (Luis Lopez & Trisha Ziff) will be showcased under Documentary section while "Tokyo Sonata" by Kiyoshi Kurosawa under World Cinema section and "The Magician" by Ingmar Bergman in prestigious section named 50 Years Ago. IFFK 2008 will take place in Kerala from December 12 to December 19 this year.

Three movies participating this year (Shine a Light, Chevolution and Tokyo Sonata) out of four are contemporary masterpieces released this year, while The Magician by Ingmar Bergman was released exactly 50 years ago. All the movies have won rave reviews and many prestigious awards and nominations at various film festivals.
About the participating films:
Shine a Light (2008) - Martin Scorsese and the Rolling Stones unite in "Shine A Light," a look at The Rolling Stones." Scorcese filmed the Stones over a two-day period at the intimate Beacon Theatre in New York City in fall 2006. Cinematographers capture the raw energy of the legendary band.
Tokyo Sonata (2008) - is a story of an ordinary Japanese family and how it slowly disintegrates after its patriarch loses his job at a prominent company. This acclaimed movie has won many nominations and prizes at many prestigious film festivals i.e. 2008: Cannes Film Festival: Un certain regard jury prize (won); Mar Del Plata Film Festival: Best Director (Won) Best Film (nominated).
Chevolution (2008) - is a film about a photograph. It explores how the Che image traveled from Korda's studio in Havana to the streets of Europe and beyond. We investigate how this portrait with its enigmatic gaze became a symbol for countless visions for change.
The Magician (1958) - When 'Vogler's Magnetic Health Theatre' comes to town, there's bound to be a spectacle. Reading reports of a variety of supernatural disturbances at Vogler's prior performances abroad, the leading townspeople (including the police chief and medical examiner) request that their troupe provide them a sample of their act, before allowing them public audiences. The scientific-minded disbelievers try to expose them as charlatans, but Vogler and his crew prove too clever for them. A true masterpiece from a master filmmaker, the movie has won many accolades. Some of which are - 1959: Special Jury Prize (Won), Golden Lion (nominated); 1960: BAFTA Awards: BAFTA Film Award (nominated).
