Great Lakes Institute of Management Launches PGWPM - a Post Graduate Working Professional Program in Management


Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Friday, March 26, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai, a leading management institute in the country founded by Prof. Bala V Balachandran, today announced the launch of PGWPM - a Post Graduate Working Professional Program in Management.

This new program offers the same academic rigor that is currently being offered to the institute's core one-year, full-time residential PGPM students. The difference is in the time frame of delivery. To facilitate learning while still at work, the newly launched program is spread over 52 alternate week ends, thus making PGWPM an eight term, 2 year academic program. Speaking on the media launch, Prof. S. Sriram, Executive Director, Great Lakes, said, "Time and again we are approached by people who want to pursue a rigorous management education with out being away from their Job. This is our response to such a need".

Though the program - given its week-end structure - is primarily intended for the working professional of Chennai, the institute foresees prospective aspirants from cities like Coimbatore and Bangalore which are at over-night travel distances. Spread over all major management disciplines, the program will deliver 36 class-room courses capped by an intensive 12-credit Master Thesis project. Renowned faculty from various leading B-Schools and from industry will be hand-holding the student through his course work and project.

With the school's Business Advisory Council headed by Shri Ratan Tata, the Board of Directors by Shri Jamshyd Godrej and the Academic Advisory Council by Prof. Bala himself, Great Lakes commits high quality, rigor and ethical standards in all its offerings. After its core program PGPM and its Global Executive program [aimed at professionals with 10 years or more work ex], this is the third offering from the Great Lakes stable.

This program is designed to develop resources with cross-functional skills, ready to respond to today's complex business requirements in a changing global environment. Executives aspiring to apply to the PGWPM need to possess a bachelor's degree and minimum of 2 years of full time work experience. Online application for admissions starts on the 1st week of April 2010. The programme commences from July 2010.
